A stitch in time saves nine..........

Please send the 2 stamped self-addressed envelopes - it isn't about the money (postage) it's about the time it takes for a busy volunteer organiser to hand write the addresses on 630 envelopes .....

All students who attend State Music Camp are automatically posted a copy of the next year's application form/information brochure in the first week of April.

If you have changed address, pick up the telephone and let me know (08) 8232 0102.

Making An Application

State Music Camp is a highly successful event which now attracts more applicants than there are positions for.  Coupled with a need to maintain instrumental balance within the five ensembles, entry into the camp has become more competitive than in previous years.

It is important that applicants prepare for the audition process thoroughly and that careful consideration is given to completing the application form.

How to Complete the Form

If you are interested in participating in the Hawkes Wind Ensemble please read the following information:

If you mark only the Hawkes Wind Ensemble box you will only be auditioned for inclusion in that ensemble.   The Hawkes Wind Ensemble is aimed at a minimum standard of Grade 2 AMEB or equivalent and is considered to be a  junior ensemble.

If you are interested in participation in the Marcus String Orchestra, please read the following information:

String players for all ensembles are heard by an audition panel comprising some common members so as to give an overview of all string applicants.  The Marcus String Orchestra is aimed at students of a lower minimum standard (Grade 3 AMEB or equivalent) and is considered to be a junior ensemble.

The Alexander Orchestra, Shephard Concert Band and Bishop Orchestra require a minimum standard of Grade 4 AMEB or equivalent.  Wind players may indicate a preference for inclusion in an orchestra or concert band and this will be adhered to if accepted from the audition process.  Please note that orchestral positions are often prized by wind players as this experience may not be available in many schools.  String players are placed according to the results of the audition process.  The Alexander Orchestra is considered to be of intermediate standard and the Bishop Orchestra of senior standard.  You are not able to specify which orchestra you are placed in.  Placement is not included in the letter of acceptance - please be assured that preferences for wind players have been observed.

VISION

Music Camp is not about where you sit, or even which ensemble you play in, it is about what you contribute as part of the team and sharing a passion for music - making with other like-minded individuals.
